The full CompTIA A+ Training Program covers four exams (but you're considered 'A+ competent' when you've passed just two of the four.) For this reason, most training providers cover only two of the areas.

What sort of jobs will the CompTIA A+ open up?

Jobs vary, depending on which other skills you have...

On its own, CompTIA A+ will give you the ability to fix and repair stand-alone computers which are not part of a business network. These jobs are generally in the home or small business market. If you also have user-skills certification such as the Microsoft MOS, then it can often open the way to 'helpdesk' work.

This often involves both solving problems verbally over the phone, and using remote access tools to take over someone's computer via the internet or a network.

If you like the sound of fixing and supporting networks throughout a company, then you'll need to add the
CompTIA Network+ and maybe consider additional Microsoft certifications to give you more networking skills such as the MCSA or MCSE.
